# Recalling Results on the IFT

Learning the Infantry Fire Table (IFT) can happen 2 ways.

By regular use and repetition… or by going out of your way to learn it.

Why would you want to learn it? See Why Memorise a Table in ASL?

But there is alot to learn, depending on how much detail you want to recall. Below is a simple way to work out an IFT result without referring to the chart.

### 8 on an 8 – The Basic Level

This is the easiest to remember. Here you are just trying to workout if your fire has any morale check effect. “Did I get a result or not?

The foundation for remembering is 8 on an 8.

A dice roll of 8 on the 8 firepower column gets you a normal morale check.

Then for each firepower column you shift to the left (6,4,2 or 1) you just subtract 1 from the dice roll you need, and then you know it is a normal morale check.

For each firepower column you shift to the right on (12,16,20.24.30,36) you add 1 to the dice roll you need get a normal morale check.

Anything lower than the number you have worked out is going mean something bad can happen.

### 1MC or 2MC

If you want a little more detail:

For 1MC. Just know that subtracting up to 2 from the dice roll necessary above will give you a 1MC

So, if you were on the 8 firepower column, you know an 8 is a NMC. Then if you -2 from the 8 dice roll, that will give you a 1MC.

For 2MC. Know that subtracting 3 or 4 from the dice roll necessary above will give you a 2MC. This one only works for the 6 firepower and great columns.

So, if you were on the 8 firepower column, you know an 8 is a NMC. Then if you -4 from the 8 dice roll, that will give you a 2MC.

Use the table above to help you visualise it, then you can increase your speed of play and better workout the odds of taking that “risky” move.
